AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION MOUNTAIN VIEW KENNELS and/or THE JELKA ARNESEN ELKHOUND RETIREMENT RESORT occasionally has dogs that need a "furever" home. Please email, MOUNTAIN VIEW KENNELS at info@mountainviewkennels.net, for an application to adopt or more information about the dogs that are available for adoption. Adoptions require an application, references, home check and adoption fee. Looking for a home: We currently have no dogs available for adoption.
For AVAILABLE pets, please go to Petfinders web site! All of our available dogs are also listed there. Have found a FUREVER home: Sascha and Suzu are two 4 year old Akitas. They are spayed and neutered and belong together in a FOREVER home. These are low maintenance large breed pets that would make a fine addition to a home with no small children.***NOTE****** Two wonderful homes have been found for these great dogs! Tag & Loki arrived March 16, 2002. They were fun loving and middle aged boys that needed their own family. They were much too young to retire! After placing them on the John Nelson Moosedog Rescue List, I got a phone call from Lucille and Dave. They wanted to share their lives with Tag & Loki. These boys are now the center of attention in a home they share with a cat named Buster! ******LOVED FOREVER IN A GREAT HOME!***************** Dutch & Gunther Dutch and Gunther are two 3 years old Norwegian Elkhound brothers. They are neutered, house trained and up to date on shots.*****NOTE*****A wonderful home has been found for these guys!!!! Bea Bea is a 10 year old Beagle that was dumped at a shelter after being a brood bitch at a puppy mill. Her productive days were over. Thank you Donna Allen and The Senior Dog House and Rescue for getting her here in October of 2004. This little girl has been given a chance to live out her life rolling in the grass and being loved. Bea has found a wonderful new home with Pete and Penny. They are a retired couple that will spoil Bea rotten! Thank you, Pete and Penny! Pugsley is a 2 year old Pug. Purchased as a "show dog" he grew to be too large for the breed standard. He weighs in at 23 lbs. He is a wonderful, energetic little dog. He needs a home where he will not be left alone for long periods of time and another dog would be great. He is neutered, up to date with shots and loves everyone/thing! *****NOTE*****A wonderful home has been found for Pugsley. Lilly Lilly is a purebred Norwegian Elkhound that was found as a stray. An energetic groomer shaved her lovely coat completely off - so she is a little embarrassed about her lack of fur. Lilly is spayed, housebroken and gets along well with other dogs. This is a sweetheart that we are guessing to be around 5 years old. She would do very well in a home where she can get the care and attention she deserves. *****NOTE*****Lilly has found a forever home. Thank you, Joy! TeddyII is a neutered purebred Norwegian Elkhound that became homeless when his owners divorced. He is housebroken, gets along well with other dogs and currently on a weight reduction program. This wonderful boy deserves a family of his own. He is much to young to live his life out in a retirement community. He is a big boy and very strong. He pulls when he is on his leash and prefers to be outside "patrolling" his property. **NOTE**** TeddyII has found a wonderful family to call his own. Thanks, K J! Obi-Wan Kenobi Obi is a neutered purebred Beagle available to the right home. He is 100% Beagle and needs a 6' fenced yard with lots of activities to keep him focused. This is a sweet guy that gets along well with everything and everyone. *****NOTE***** Obi and another Beagle we had available, Penny, have found a WONDERFUL home TOGETHER. Thank you Karrie, Vickie and Gary!!!!! Madeline Maddy is a spayed middle aged Beagle/Dachshund cross that we placed with a retired woman named Grandma Pat. As Grandma Pat is no longer able to care for Maddy, she is once again available for adoption to the right home. She gets along well with everyone and everything and prefers a quiet environment. She gained a little weight while with Grandma Pat, so a daily walk would be in order. ****NOTE*****Madeline has found a wonderful home with two great boys that fight over who she sleeps with!!!! Lola Lola is a spayed 8 month old female Beagle that was given up by her prior family because they felt she was left alone too much. Beagles are PACK animals and need companionship! This is a petite, well behaved young lady that is looking for a home with a fenced yard (a MUST for a Beagle), preferably at least another dog and/or a full time caregiver.******NOTE****** Lola has found a forever home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LexiAnn and Nara are two middle aged spayed female Beagles that were turned into the shelter as their parents were getting divorced. Nara is on phenobarbitol for seizures and is currently on a weight reduction program. LexiAnn is a little timid, but with all the other pups here to play with, is coming out of her shell. These are delightful girls - housetrained, crate trained and up to date on shots. We would like to place these dogs together. Fenced yard is a MUST. ******NOTE******* These two girls have been placed separately in wonderful homes!!!!!!! Tommy Tommy is a neutered male young Pomeranian who needs a home where people understand toy breeds. He is used to being outdoors during the day and thinks he is a big dog. He gets along with other dogs and I can't imagine him not liking cats. He weighs in at 12 pounds and is mostly hair. This little guy was found as a stray on one of the busiest highways in the country. He needs a safe secure home where he is loved forever.****NOTE*****Tommy has a new Mommy named Becky! Margo Margo (aka Mona) is a delightful young Beagle who needs a home. Found as a stray, she needs a home with a fenced yard. She would prefer a companion dog or a person who is home most of the time. *****NOTE******** Mona has found a forever home with a new Beagle brother!!!!!!!! Ernie Ernie is a Basset/Beagle mix. He is a 7 month old baby who was given up as his owner did not have enough time for him. This little guy LOVES life, other dogs and toys.**NOTE*****Ernie is now residing in Missoula with his Corgi brother, Archie! Simon Simon is around 5 years old. He is a beautiful and energetic neutered male Norwegian Elkhound. His previous owner passed away and he went to other family members. Not getting the attention he needed resulted in him climbing over his 4' fence. He needs someone who can love him and give him the attention he deserves. This is an extraordinary dog that will make a fine companion for someone. He gets along great with other dogs - we don't know about cats. ****NOTE*****Simon has a new family! Lyla was given to us in June of 2007 at 2 years old by a family in Missoula. They could no longer keep her where they were living. Dear friends of mine, Dave & Lucille, had mentioned wanting to add a female to their already 2 Elkhound pack, Tag & Loki. I knew she would be perfect for them. Sure enough, in July they took in Lilla and never looked back. They adore her! Baby Callie came to us in May of 2008. She was given to us by a college student who had to move back home and couldn't keep her. She is a 14 month old delight who loves to give kisses. Her previous owner had her shaved...We are patiently waiting for her coat to come back in. She is on hold for a couple in Oregon who (if they decide to) will be a perfect family for her. They already have one Elkhound and a pair of 3 year old twin boys. Keep your fingers crossed! ***GOOD NEWS***Scott and Nancy have decided to adopt Callie. Although I am very fond of her, I look forward to placing her in a wonderful furever home.
